WEEK 9

This isn't a response to anything in particular. Just something spontaneous that I saw while walking on Ocean Beach the other day. Other worldly... [Alexis]

What an amazing photograph! [Julie]

re: the painting of the window... I started it a couple days ago and the actual painting of the window has already been affected by the architecture of the studio space where I am painting it, due to the size of the space I am not able to paint the window 1:1, which is what I intended... it is 9 inches smaller, width-wise and of proportionally smaller height... [Alexis]

Perhaps this constraint adds another dimension, the studio as intrusion into or onto the domestic space. Thanks for reminding me about my previous studio, it was so perfect for me. The steep stair that led to the closet was cute and dangerous; 8" rise, 3" run. Here's a detail image of that self-portrait you previously mentioned; that's me and the house on Des Souverains. I can't wait to see what you do with those windows on Irving. It's an interesting concept to observe relationships and built openings we live within. How proportion, scale, and orientation might shape us. Our 3 bedroom windows face north. [Julie]
